Check out the movies you created! You did such a wonderful job with this; I am so proud. Media literacy is a very important skill that you need in order to be successful in the 21st century. You've taken a huge step in honing your media literacy skills today by creating your very own piece of media.
Take a moment to look at each group's video. Can you tell, just from viewing, the purpose for which each video was created? For example, try to guess which video was created for educational purposes, informational purposes, and entertainment purposes. Also, reflect on this process of crafting your very own video. Did you enjoy working with your group? How do you feel about the application you used to make your video? Provide your "off the cuff" thoughts and feelings about this past assignment.
Post your reflection as a comment to this initial posting. Have fun watching the videos; I know I did!!

I really loved this project! It helped me understand more about the different types of bullying, how it can feel, and how to stop it. My group (Alina, Grayson, Anne Marie, and I) worked very well with platagon.com. I found the site very easy to work with and gave a lot of different action and facial expression choices that made it easier for the viewer to understand our topic. Granted that this site was the class favorite, it was sometimes hard to understand the characters and close captioning would have been nice. It was also a very difficult and lengthy process to save your movie. I really enjoyed this project and look forward to using some of the other applications in the future!
ReplyDeleteThese movies were a great experience. I learned about websites I can use in the future, but not the one I used 😂. One thing I think that I didn't like is that we didn't get to choose a site. I think we should have gotten the chance to pick from a few apps to use. Overall, this project was pretty fun and the videos were both informal and humorous. That's right, I said humorous. ✌️
ReplyDeleteFor this project I feel that I had an excellent group. We all got along, and our ideas corresponded well with each other. Everyone was able to understand the software which was great help. I think it would be a great idea to keep the same groups but to move them to a different website. This would allow each group to get different experiences and broaden their technology knowledge.
ReplyDeleteIn opinion, the software Plotagon was just okay. Most of all I feel that more options should be available. Being limited to only five characters and scenes seemed to really slowed down the group's creativity. Also, making the actions and speaking smoother would help the "film" to flow. Determining which software provided the informational, educational, or entertaining content was for the most part difficult. Our class based their videos on many of the same principles with only minor differences.
ReplyDeleteThe videos were all created using a basic theme: bullying is bad. I think the 3rd period powtoon was an informational (actually I am pretty certain since it said so at the beginning). It told us the definition of bullying as well as the grade levels it was most common in, and how 1 in 4 kids are regularly bullied! (there was more but I think that is enough to get the gist of what I am saying)
The third period Wideo I would say was made for entertaining purposes. It was funny to watch even though this is a serious subject matter! ( #birdbeastin #getlikeme )
The third period Plotagon was made for educational purposes: it talked about how bullies (most of the time) only bully because they are going through a tough time or maybe want to be noticed and do not know the best way.
The 4th period powtoon I think was made for entertainment purposes and demonstrated the consequences for bullying (Talon got a few months of suspension).
The 4th period Wideo I think was made for informational purposes because it taught people to think before they speak; it could save a life!
The 4th period Plotagon was made for educational purposes (I know because this was my group! We hope our video taught that sometimes people just get in a mood, even people we used to be close to and that telling someone is always a good idea because they can help you feel better in the situation. (she talked to her step-sister). When the bully fully realized that what she was doing was wrong she did the right thing and came to apologize even though she knew that the girl would probably still be upset. Thankfully they forgave each other!
I thoroughly enjoyed working with my group on this project. It was interesting working with a new program that I feel could be something usable in the future! I also feel like I learned a lot about the number of people bullied, which was higher than I think any of us liked. The program was very self-explanatory and easy to use once you figured out the basics. I loved how it was basically type, select, and press the play button! I would like to learn more about the other project software since I could tell that other groups had fun working as well!
I think ours was entertaining, the PowToon was informative, and the Plotagon was educational. My group was awesome to work with, just because it was Jackson, who's cool, Ian, who's cool, and J-Pup, who is cooler than cool. Seriously. The video crafting process, however, was a long difficult struggle at the hands of some corporate businessmen and a few nerds who were lucky enough to get their stupid website published. I thought making the video was fun, but the application used was terrible. Oh, what's that, Wideo founders? That offends you?
ReplyDeleteI loved doing these videos. It taught me a lot about bullying and the outcomes. Watching the videos were lots of fun too!
ReplyDeletei had a lot of fun working with my group on making this movie. Our website was a good source to use while making this animation. I hope we can do this again sometime :)
ReplyDeletems. Gail says hi btw :)
ReplyDeletewe worked well together but we had a bad website maybe if we had a better website then it would be enjoyable
ReplyDeleteI thought the website, Powtoon, was very awesome. I liked it because it had cool backgrounds and characters. I think Alina's group had informational, O'Neil's group had educational, and our group had entertaining. I would like to see the other websites, Plotagon and Wideo.
ReplyDeleteThe website I used, Wideo, could have been better. The program didn't have many options, and was a bit childish with animations. There wasn't much variety and it was difficult for it to come of serious. It was also a bit difficult to edit it or personalize. Powtoon didn't make a lot of sense. The actions were just really weird and confusing and I didn't understand what was happening during the videos. Plotagon seemed to work the best. The videos were more active and personalized and you could understand what was happening during them. The only thing that seemed to be wrong with it was that it was that it could be difficult to use and editing very complex.
ReplyDeleteMaking these videos was a fun experience and it helped us learn to adapt quickly to new websites. Our website worked pretty good, even though it was hard to use at first. We quickly learned about our website, powtoon.com, and i thought it was a good website to display the message we wanted.
ReplyDeleteI think that our application, Plotagon, was the best application. It was very east to use, and our group had an amazing time making it. I hope that we can use it again sometime. Even though it took awhile to understand; I think once we got it we had a lot of fun. :]
ReplyDeleteI think this experience was a very helpful one. The website that me and my group used was very easy to get used to and was really fun. Although i liked our website, I think I would have liked powtoon better. it seemed easier to use and more fun.
